Savvis to Open New Data Center in Minneapolis

Savvis, a CenturyLink company, specializing in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for businesses, recently announced plans to expand its North American footprint by opening a new data center in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area in the spring of 2014. The new Savvis MP2 data center, built to support 4.8 megawatts of IT load on 100,000 square feet of raised floor space, will open with an initial 1.2 megawatts and 13,000 square feet of raised floor space.

CyrusOne Expands Data Center in San Antonio

CyrusOne, one of San Antonio’s global colocation solutions providers, has purchased a 22-acre property as expansion of its data center campus. The remaining space in its existing facility, the equivalent of 19,500 square feet, was leased for the next 5 years to one single customer, identified as a Fortune 50 customer.

GM to Invest $258 Million in Second Metro Detroit Data Center

Less than one year after announcing a plan to transform its global Information Technology (IT) department and just days after celebrating the grand opening of the Warren Enterprise Data Center, General Motors Co. broke ground on Friday, May 24, on its second supercomputing facility in Metro Detroit. Together, the two locations will replace a network of 23 data centers operated by GM, as well as three information technology suppliers from around the world. They will add to the company’s existing data centers in Austin, TX, Roswell, GA, and Chandler, AZ.
