IHG Opens Kimpton in Scotland

Located in the UNESCO world heritage site of Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town, The Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants-branded property offers 184 guestrooms and 15 suites.

Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened Kimpton Charlotte Square in Edinburgh, the flag’s first property in Scotland. Previously known as Principal Charlotte Square, the asset is the second to open after Kimpton Fitzroy London since IHG and Covivio agreed to rebrand and operate 12 hotels under the Principal and De Vere brands.

Located at 130 George St., the property offers 184 guestrooms and 15 suites in seven interconnected townhouses in Georgian New Town, a UNESCO world heritage site. The hotel is within a 20-minute walk from cultural landmarks such as The Georgian House, Edinburgh Castle, Queen Street Gardens and the city’s Old Town. Hotel amenities include a bar, fitness center and spa.

The company plans to open additional Kimpton branded properties in Glasgow and Manchester, as well as an InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Edinburgh. Last July, IHG announced plans to expand the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in Germany with the 155-key Kimpton Frankfurt hotel. The property is expected to open in 2023.
