Howard Hughes Corp. Brings Scotch & Soda to the Seaport District

New York—Amsterdam-based clothing label Scotch & Soda is opening a new store in Lower Manhattan’s Seaport District, The Howard Hughes Corp. recently announced. The retailer is the latest to join the roster of companies setting up shop in New York City’s oldest neighborhood.

“This latest addition to the Seaport District is another example of how this storied neighborhood is reinventing itself as a leading culinary, fashion, entertainment and cultural hub,” David Weinreb, CEO of Howard Hughes, said in a prepared statement. “We are pleased to welcome Scotch & Soda to the neighborhood and offer their distinct style to the growing Lower Manhattan community.”

Howard Hughes is currently redeveloping the Seaport District, located on the East River in Lower Manhattan, into a top destination for New Yorkers and visitors alike. The revitalized district will encompass seven buildings on several city blocks, and will include two flagship restaurants by chefs Jean-Georges and David Chang, a 40,000-square-foot food market in the restored Tin Building, a McNally Jackson Books bookshop, and an eight-screen movie theater by iPic Theaters.

Originally established in the 1980s, Scotch & Soda was relaunched in 2001 under new leadership. The label currently operates more than 100 stores worldwide, and the Seaport District store will be its first location in Lower Manhattan.
