ADMARES, a Finland-based company that specializes in the mass production of single-family homes, multifamily buildings and other structures, will construct its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Waycross, Ga., the company and state and local officials announced Wednesday.

The 2.5-million-square-foot facility will reportedly employ 1,400 people and specialize in producing buildings for the housing sector.

The project represents a $750 million investment and will be built on a greenfield site along Highway 23. It’s expected to begin production in late 2025.

Currently headquartered in Turku, Finland, ADMARES is in the process of relocating its headquarters to the United States.

Transport options

ADMARES uses a robotic-driven process to manufacture buildings at a factory rather than on a traditional construction site, noted ADMARES founder and CEO Mikael Hedberg in a prepared statement.

Hedberg added that Waycross is an attractive location because of its access to major highways and its extensive rail connections. Waycross is home to the largest automated classification facility in the CSX Transportation system, where about 65 trains, from six CSX lines, are handled each day.

Hedberg also cited Waycross’s proximity to the Port of Brunswick, one of the East Coast’s busiest ports.
