Convene is headed across the pond. The New York City-based coworking firm has announced it will open its first office outside of the U.S with a 102,000-square-foot location in heart of London.
Convene’s future space, which they plan to open in September 2020, will be located within the 22 Bishopsgate development, a 1.2 million-square-foot office property that will be the tallest structure in the City of London—a neighborhood in the city center—once completed.

AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets is developing and will manage the 22 Bishopsgate development. Convene WorkPlace will occupy 51,000 square feet across two floors at the property, offering about 600 desks in fully-furnished, flexible work suites with a variety of amenities included.
The other 51,000 square feet of space will be used for Convene’s meeting and event spaces, which will also span two floors, with a 30 to 300 person capacity for conferences and a range of events. The spaces will offer built-in technology and dedicated production, IT and hospitality teams, including a full-service culinary team. Convene was represented by CBRE in the lease negotiations, while AXA IM – Real Assets was represented by JLL.
GETTING IN THE GAME
As the coworking sector has blossomed over the last two years, various players in the office space have decided to join the crowd. In June of this year, Savills announced the launch of PIVOT, a coworking platform that will be rolled out exclusively in the U.K., followed two weeks later by developer Hines announcing its launch of a coworking venture dubbed Hines Squared.
Europe’s coworking sector has continued to grow, with top demand for coworking space centered in London, according to a Cushman & Wakefield report from earlier this year. In England’s capital alone, there is more than 10.7 million square feet of coworking space.
