Akron’s Newest Luxury Student Housing Community to Open in August

In May, 2013, the Cleveland-based NRP Group, one of the largest multifamily developers in the nation, started work on a 624-bed, four-story luxury student housing community in Akron. Called the Depot, the project is now nearing completion. It is scheduled to open for residents this August.

Greysteel Tapped to Sell Woodbridge’s Meridian Bay Apartments

The Meridian Bay Apartments, a 23-building garden-style community located in the Northern Virginia suburb of Woodbridge, is looking for new owners. Coastal Properties of Virginia, the current owner, has selected the Greysteel Company’s Mid-Atlantic multifamily investment sales team to sell the property. At the moment, no sale price was announced.

Greater Baltimore Multi-Housing Developments Receive Funding

Two Greater Baltimore residential projects have secured financing last week, and are both now one step closer to completion. Located in downtown Baltimore and in Odenton, the two projects total more than 420 units.

Insight Property Group to Start Work This Fall on $185M Urban Mixed-use Project

Insight Property Group announced last week the acquisition of the H Street Self-Storage Property at 624 H Street NE, in Washington, D.C. The Arlington, Virginia-based multifamily developer plans to turn the site into the home of its new urban, mixed-use luxury project, called The Apollo on H Street. Groundbreaking is scheduled for this fall.

The city of Richmond has been working for more than 20 years to rehabilitate the Main Street Station, one of downtown’s most visible landmarks, and turn it into a multimodal transportation center that will serve Amtrak, buses, shuttles, taxis and alternative modes of travel. Now, the renovation project is nearing completion.

Virginia Beach Joint-Use Library Wins LEED Gold Certification

Ground was broken on Virginia Beach’s unique Joint-Use Library in June, 2011. The Tidewater Community College teamed up with the city of Virginia Beach on the $43 million project. After two years of construction, the library opened on August 17, 2013. Recently, it has received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

In one of Greater Cincinnati’s largest commercial real estate deals of the year, 4600 Smith Road Holdings LLC sold its Central Parke Business Park Portfolio to a group of local investors, called PBY Partners. The price of the transaction was $34 million.
