The Bozzuto Group Relocates to New Corporate Headquarters, Remains in Prince George’s County

Oct. 1 marked a move to a new home for The Bozzuto Group. It relocated its corporate headquarters to 6406 Ivy Lane in Greenbelt, celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company officials, employees, business associates and Prince George’s County leaders.

Bozzuto signed a lease for about 105,000 square feet of space on five floors in a seven-story building in Greenbelt’s Capital Office Park. The new location features numerous amenities, from innovative workspaces to large community areas, flexible meeting rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center and even two electric-vehicle charging stations, the first to be installed in Maryland that qualified for the state’s new Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Rebate Program, introduced by the Maryland Energy Administration in July 2014.

The new headquarters is just 1.5 miles away from the old location, but for a time the company did consider changing counties a few years ago, despite its long history in Prince George’s County. That was the result of tensions between the administration of former county executive Jack Johnson and the father and son team of Tom and Toby Bozzuto. At the end of 2011, Johnson was sentenced to more than seven years in a federal prison for masterminding a corruption conspiracy.

The county’s current administration, led by Rushern Baker III, worked hard to retain the company and its almost 300 employees. After nearly a year of discussions, in September 2013, Prince Geroge’s County officials approved a $1.5 million subsidy package and convinced the homebuilder to stay.
