Sunrise Solar Solutions LLC completed the installation of a solar system at The Scarborough Manor, a 205-unit cooperative community in Ossining, N.Y. The installation is one of the largest residential solar energy systems in Westchester County.

The system was installed on the rooftop of two seven-story buildings and one two-story amenities center. It is projected to generate enough solar energy to power 25 percent of the co-op’s electrical needs for the common areas, including the lobbies, hallways, exterior lighting, clubhouse and gatehouse. Furthermore, due to the combination of utility savings, tax credits and incentives, the board estimated the net cost of solar for the community at 45 percent of the gross cost.

Solarize Westchester

The Scarborough Manor cooperative board chose Sunrise thanks to the company’s well-publicized history of successful Solarize Westchester campaigns, according to Scarborough’s President of the Board Gary Montesano. In addition, the expertise of Sunrise’s president & CEO Douglas Hertz left a favorable impression on the board members. “And the fact that they were local was a very big deal for the board. That was a game changer for us,” Montesano said in a prepared statement.
