NFL Owner, Wilson Meany Eye Los Angeles Production Studio
The project will take shape within a 300-acre campus.

Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, in partnership with Wilson Meany, plans a major production facility and film studio at the 300-acre Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif. The development’s first phase, dubbed Hollywood Park Studios, will include five soundstages and 80,000 square feet of support office space.
Construction will begin later this month. Gensler is the lead architect, while Clayco serves as general contractor and Pacific Edge as project manager. Guggenheim Investments arranged financing.

The production facilities will come online ahead of the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics that will take place in Los Angeles. Hollywood Park Studios’ first use will be as the International Broadcast Center for the media outlets covering the Games. Afterward, the specialized space will be leased to TV and film production companies.
Plans also call for mill facilities for the prefabrication of sets, an open base camp zone (where trucks and trailers are parked) and a tall-bay garage that can accommodate as many as 60 trailers.
There is space at Hollywood Park Studios for expansion, should the demand be there. The site could provide for as many as 20 more soundstages, which would be build-to-suit space. Some 200,000 square feet of additional office space to support the productions could also be constructed.
Part of Hollywood Park
The plan is the latest for the multi-year mixed-use development underway on the site of the demolished Hollywood Park Racetrack. The first establishment to open at the development, in 2016, was Hollywood Park Casino.
The park’s centerpiece is the 70,240-seat SoFi Stadium, home of the LA Rams and LA Chargers, which opened in late 2020. More recently the stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI and WrestleMania; World Cup soccer games will be held there next year. The 6,000-seat YouTube Theater is also part of the project.
“The vision for Hollywood Park has always been to build a city within a city,” Kroenke said in a statement. Upon the project’s delivery, Kroenke and Wilson Meany will have completed as much as 5 million square feet of office space, a 300-room hotel, nearly 900,000 square feet of retail space and as many as 2,500 residential units.
SoCal soundstage biz swoons
The development announcement comes at a time of slumping demand for soundstages in southern California. From 2016 to 2022, regional soundstage occupancy levels held, on average, above 90 percent, according to FilmLA, the official film office for the City and County of Los Angeles and other local jurisdictions. In 2023, demand cratered and average regional studio occupancy declined to 69 percent. In 2024, occupancy was an average 63 percent.
In 2023, a total of 1,225 projects were filmed in the 477 soundstages included in FilmLA’s analysis. These projects generated 8,671 Stage Shoot Days, which is fewer than any previous period except 2020. Episodic television series represented only 20 percent of all production in LA, while in previous years it represented 30 percent.
Employment in the sector contracted by 0.9 percent during 2024, according to the Otis College 2025 Report on the Creative Economy, which tracks California’s creative economy. Even so, California remains the national leader of the sector, which directly employs 5 percent of the state’s workforce.
