Principle Construction Hires Director

Phil VanDuyne has more than 33 years of experience in Chicago-area commercial development, having spent most of his career as a partner at Itasca Construction Associates.

Principle Construction Corp.—which has recently finalized tenant improvements for one of the largest industrial leases in the Chicago area—has appointed Phil VanDuyne as the new director of its pre-construction services team. VanDuyne, who will report to company owners James Brucato and Mark Augustyn, will be in charge of estimating costs, drafting and reviewing contracts, planning and managing processes and budgets for all company projects, as well as coordinating the pre-construction team. He will be based in Rosemont, Ill.

The new director has more than 33 years of experience in Chicago-area construction, most of having spent most of his career at Itasca Construction Associates Inc., where he was a partner until 2015. VanDuyne was then hired as a capital project consultant and owner’s representative by Simpson Strong-Tie in West Chicago. The project involved the expansion and remodeling of office, R&D labs, training centers and demonstration rooms.

VanDuyne’s academic background is in civil engineering, with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
