Miami—Los Angeles–based hospitality company SBE has opened the SLS Brickell, a 55-story tower that encompasses 124 hotel rooms and suites designed by Philippe Starck and 450 SLS-branded condo residences, SBE announced last Friday.

The project is a 50-50 partnership between SBE and The Related Group, and SBE will manage the hotel on behalf of the partnership. The property, designed by Arquitectonica, is SBE’s second SLS hotel in Miami and its first hotel-and-residence project in partnership with Related Group.

The location on South Miami Avenue is just steps from downtown Miami and the Miami Design District. The project’s cost has not been disclosed.

Guest amenities at SLS Brickell include concierge services, valet parking, in-room dining, a fitness center, spa, babysitting and a BMW-7 series house car available for transport within a 3-mile radius. A pool deck features three pools, a hot and cold plunge, alfresco dining and eight private cabanas. The property also features 10,000 square feet of ballroom and business space.

SLS residents will be able to access all hotel amenities, as well as a private SLS screening room and party room, The Sky Roof (featuring a pool with spectacular city views), housekeeping, childcare, catering, laundry and dry cleaning, grocery shopping, and IT support.

Guests and residents will also have complimentary beach access at the SLS South Beach, four-and-a-half miles away.

The property features culinary options from two James Beard Award–winning chefs, SLS Culinary Director Chef José Andrés and Chef Michael Schwartz. With the property’s unveiling, Schwartz launched his first Italian concept, Fi’lia, to be followed by Andrés’ Bazaar Mar, a seafood concept.

Also in Brickell, SLS, The Related Group and The Allen Morris Co. are developing the SLS LUX Brickell, with 450 residences and 85 luxury suites. That project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2017, an SBE spokesperson told Commercial Property Executive.

In late September, shareholders of Morgans Hotel Group Inc. approved that company’s sale to SBE, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. The acquisition is expected to be completed next month, according to the SBE spokesperson.
