In a partnership with an affiliate of Olive Real Estate Group, Hotel Equities has begun construction of SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Element by Westin, a 259-key dual-branded hotel in downtown Colorado Springs, Colo. The development will be the first Marriott to combine the two distinct brands. Olive Real Estate Group’s affiliate will own the property.

Located at 402 S. Tejon St., the property is the first opportunity zone project in Colorado Springs. Various major employers, as well as dining, shopping and entertainment venues including U.S. Olympic Museum, Weidner Stadium, America the Beautiful Park and the U.S. Olympic Committee Headquarters are nearby.

Upon completion in 2021, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Element by Westin is set to feature 295,000 square feet of space and will include 216 parking spaces, street level retail space and a rooftop restaurant and bar. Additionally, the property will add 4,200 square feet of meeting and event space. Guestrooms will be equipped with energy-efficient kitchens, flat-screen TVs, desks with open shelving, spa-inspired bathrooms and Heavenly®-signature beds.

Last month, Marriott opened another SpringHill Suites hotel, a 119-key property in Wauwatosa, Wis.
