JLL to Manage New Jersey Aerospace Research Campus
The center spans 5,800 acres and includes 200 buildings at the Atlantic City airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration has tapped JLL to provide comprehensive facilities management services at the William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
The property is a 1.5 million-square-foot, 200-building campus spread across 5,800 acres, serving as the FAA’s premier national hub for aviation research, development, laboratory testing and evaluation.
The research hub is located alongside Atlantic City International Airport, near Exit 9 of the Atlantic City Expressway. The site is 13 miles from downtown Atlantic City, with access to the Garden State Parkway, a major north-south artery in New Jersey. The aerospace complex is 54 miles southeast of Philadelphia.

The Technical Center serves as the FAA’s primary hub for advancing aviation safety, security and efficiency through research, development, testing and evaluation. The campus includes 40 major laboratory facilities, outdoor test ranges, indoor simulation capabilities and runway facilities that support full-scale aircraft operations and testing. Approximately 5,500 FAA employees, contractors and other staff work at the aerospace center.
The FAA works with aviation industry partners, academic institutions and other agencies at the campus. The William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace also houses several other government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, which operates a transportation security laboratory, training center and explosives-detection programs at the site. The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station and the Department of Justice’s U.S. Marshals Service also maintain a presence at the campus.
JLL will oversee operations and maintenance services at the hub. As part of the assignment, the company will be responsible for a range of services, including high-voltage electrical systems, HVAC, central utility plant operations, general maintenance, plumbing, pest control, water treatment, material handling, generator services, minor repair and renovation support, as well as elevator maintenance and repair.
The JLL facilities management team includes Contract Manager Robert Mitchell, Alternate Contract Manager Glenn Mettrock, Maintenance Supervisor Philip Naylor and Contract Accountant Jennifer Morgan.
Aerospace industry maintains global momentum
The U.S. aerospace and defense industry is experiencing record demand and sales, while supporting more than 2.1 million American jobs in 2025, according to a recent report by Aerospace Industries Association and S&P Global Market Intelligence.
The sector generated $500 billion in economic value—accounting for 1.6 of the national GDP in 2025. Its total business activity reached $1 trillion, while the sector recorded $998.6 billion in sales volume, highlighting sustained global demand, the report shows.
Meanwhile, industry expenditures reached $45 billion last year—a 13 percent year-over-year increase, with investment targeting modernization, an expanded production capacity and long-term competitiveness.
Aerospace development continues as the industry expands. In June, JetZero broke ground on an 8 million-square-foot aircraft manufacturing plant in Greensboro, N.C. The company’s development is rising on 600 acres within the Piedmont Triad International Airport campus and is one of the largest aerospace investments in North Carolina, expected to generate roughly $5 billion over this decade.
