Total employment from increased by 1.7 percent (2,517 people) September 2016 to September 2017, while total unemployed decreased by 14.4 percent (1,102 people). Year-over-year, the largest gains in employment were posted by the Transportation and Material Moving sector, with a 5.4 percent increase, followed by the Production, Transportation and Material Moving sector (3 percent) and the Management, Business and Financial sector (2.3 percent). The most significant decrease in unemployment was posted by the Sales and Related sector with 29.2 percent, followed by Production occupations (27.8 percent) and the Production, Transportation and Material Moving sector (24.2 percent). The overall unemployment rate dropped 14.6 percent year-over-year in September 2017.
