During a ribbon cutting ceremony this week, DoubleTree by Hilton announced the official opening and rebranding of the Radisson Hotel Pittsburgh-Green Tree, which has been renamed as DoubleTree. The hotel will undergo a $16 million renovation and has become Hilton’s largest asset in the Pittsburgh area.

Rob Palleschi, Global Head with DoubleTree by Hilton, said that the opening of the new hotel consolidates the company’s reach in the Western Pennsylvania market. According to a company press release, the renovation will be handled by RIDA Development Corp. “We are very proud to be able to take such a landmark hotel and return it into its original splendor as a leading hotel in the Pittsburgh community,” said Ira Mitzner, president of RIDA. Looney & Associates will lead the design, which will include a signature restaurant and an upscale sports bar.

CAM Hospitality Management will oversee day-to-day hotel operations. Chris Mannino, president of CAM Hospitality, commented on the iconic presence of the hotel for the Pittsburgh community and described it as one of the city’s most prominent locations. Upon the completion of the renovation process, DoubleTree will feature more than 40,000 square feet of space for social events and meetings.

In regional news, following Bottom Dollar Food’s announcement that it will open 14 new grocery stores next year in the Greater Pittsburgh region, the company has started hiring to fill more than 800 positions. According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, Bottom Dollar Food is holding interviews in November and December, and is hiring for full- and part- time positions in sales for its various departments.
