The city of Baltimore has taken another step towards becoming more sustainable. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced on September 3 the launch of a new energy conservation and sustainability effort which will help thousands of residents, businesses and nonprofits across the city.
The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia Open For Pre-Leasing
Kettler, The Howard Hughes Corporation and Orchard Development Corporation have announced last week the start of pre-leasing at The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia. The $100 million, mixed-use development is located in Columbia’s Warfield neighborhood and is expected to open later this year.

Two fast-leasing Baltimore office towers are going up for sale. Both are located in the city’s downtown and both are more than 90% occupied.

Reliable Churchill, LLLP, the largest wine and spirits distributorship in the state of Maryland, has relocated its headquarters and more than 500 of its employees to a new office-warehouse complex in the Baltimore Crossroads business community, in White Marsh/Middle River.
$442M Horseshoe Casino Baltimore Finally Open, Brings 1,700 Jobs
Baltimore is finally on the list of U.S. casino cities. Last week, on August 26, the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore officially opened on the city’s south side. More than 15,000 guests attended the grand opening ceremony. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake were among the celebrities present at the event.
MCR Development Completes Renovation of the Hampton Inn Baltimore Downtown Convention Center
MCR Development LLC is celebrating again the successful renovation of a hotel in Baltimore. A few weeks ago, the hotel owner and operator said it finished work on the 131-room Residence Inn Baltimore White Marsh. Now, New York-based MCR Development announced it has successfully completed a full renovation of the Hampton Inn Baltimore Downtown Convention Center.
American Greetings Breaks Ground on New World HQ in Westlake
American Greetings broke ground on August 26 on its new headquarters building at the Crocker Park development in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake. Expected to cost between $150 million and $200 million, the project is scheduled to be completed in two years.
