Sam Schaefer will also join the company’s real estate management services board.

JLL has appointed Sam Schaefer as the new Property Management CEO. Schaefer will also join the firm’s real estate management services board and will lead the business globalization.
The newly established role carries global responsibility for JLL’s property management services.
Schaefer will guide the business in responding to shifting market demands, strengthening client outcomes, enhancing operational efficiency, supporting talent development and driving long-term growth. He will report to Global CEO of Real Estate Management Services Neil Murray.
Previously, Schaefer served as principal for Trammell Crow Co. Before that, he was president & CEO at Hobbs Brook Real Estate, as well as managing director & global head of leasing, corporate outreach and property management at Tishman Speyer.
JLL’s property management subsidiary focuses on enhancing tenant experience through data-driven strategies, helping owners minimize risk. In 2022, the firm expanded its expertise area with the launch of a national service line for owners and investors in the life science real estate sector.
The company has about 53,000 commercial buildings managed globally, according to its website. These properties account for more than 4.6 billion square feet.
Property management’s influence on tenant experience
Tenant experience has become a top priority for landlords, with property management teams serving as the key link between occupiers and owners. Their role increasingly focuses on enhancing daily aspects, including workplace amenities and tenant communication.
An important part of this shift is a greater emphasis on health and wellbeing in the workplace. As property managers broaden their responsibilities, many are integrating wellness-focused initiatives to support tenant satisfaction and retention while addressing evolving occupier expectations.
