Koch Nitrogen Plans Mid-September Start for $1.3B Plant Expansion in Enid

A Koch Industries Inc. subsidiary plans to begin work in mid-September on a $1.3 billion expansion of its fertilizer facility in Enid that will increase urea and ammonia production capacity by more than 1 million tons per year.

Located at the Koch fertilizer plant at 1619 S. 78th St., the project will add a 900,000 ton-per-year urea plant, an electric power substation, high-speed truck and rail road loading facilities, improvements to existing processing plants, and a new urea storage facility. The development is also expected to create 50 to 60 permanent jobs upon completion.

“This investment by Koch Nitrogen is one of the largest construction projects in the history of Koch Industries,’’ said David Robertson, Koch Industries’ president. ‘’It reflects the ongoing growth of our fertilizer business and underscores our commitment to innovation and creating long-term value.’’

Key consultants include Black & Veatch, which will handle project planning and engineering services; KBR, Inc., which will serve as construction manager; and Netherlands-based Stamicarbon will provide urea synthesis and granulation technology.
