A few weeks after opening its first West Elm retail store in Oklahoma City, Williams-Sonoma Inc. is expanding its presence in the Sooner State. Home furnishing retailer West Elm is set to open its first Tulsa retail store on Aug. 28. Located at 1926 Utica Square, the 11,000-square-foot store is designed to reflect the cultural environment, landscape and heritage of the area.

“Every time we came to Tulsa, we were struck by the beautiful miles and miles of varied farmland we saw – it’s a pattern of color and texture specific to this area of the country,” said West Elm President Jim Brett. “As a team that works with pattern and color daily, we immediately responded to it. We have created a store interior that reflects the local beauty.”

The new store will feature a selection of products manufactured in Oklahoma, including products from Dustbowl Dry Goods, Weather & Noise, Lovewell Handmade and Owl & Drum. The inclusion of Oklahoma-based manufacturers is part of West Elm’s LOCAL initiative, launched earlier this year.

“We’re actively seeking locations where we can make the biggest impact by supporting local makers and creating jobs in our stores,” said Brett.

According to a news release, West Elm’s new store will make its debut with the company’s fall assortment, featuring an extensive collection of products, including handcrafted pieces from Haiti, India, Peru and the Philippines.

Brooklyn-based West Elm currently owns 60 retail stores in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia, and is one of Williams-Sonoma’s most iconic home furnishing brands.
