Global flexible workspace provider WeWork has opened a new, 39,000-square-foot coworking space in Atlanta. Dubbed WeWork The Interlock, the premises is part of a six-story, 305,000-square-foot office building owned by SJC Ventures, according to CommercialEdge data.

Known as The Interlock, the building came online in 2021. Situated at 1115 Howell Mill Road NW, the property is close to numerous dining and retail options, while Interstate 85 is less than 1.5 miles away.

As companies continue to embrace the flexible working model, WeWork has registered increases in bookings at its seven other metro Atlanta locations between January and September. WeWork The Interlock marks the coworking operator’s first West Midtown Atlanta location. The expansion comes as WeWork announced in its third quarter results that it is closing roughly 40 underperforming locations.

The new coworking space offers private suites, office spaces and meeting rooms, suitable for small startups and larger teams, as well. Tenants also have access to a mother’s suite and wellness rooms at the new shared space, along with other amenities available at The Interlock, such as restaurants, outdoor terraces, a boutique hotel, a rooftop bar and a pool.

Biotechnology company Moderna is leasing two office suites totaling 19,000 square feet at WeWork’s new location, for over 100 of its employees. The two companies worked together to create a move-in-ready workspace with private outdoor areas and a dedicated pantry. The tenant roster at The Interlock also includes Georgia Tech, Airbnb, Pindrop, The Grove and Saint German Bakery.
