Vantage Builders completed the renovation of Boston Beer Co.’s mixed-use property in the Jamaica Plein district. With a new mixed blend laboratory for mixing and tasting beers, training rooms, barrel storage space and new offices for the Samuel Adams brewer, the venture amounted to more than 8,000 square feet in two buildings. The project also included creating a tasting room.

The new addition is inside Building H, located at 30 Germania St., and features a concrete-top bar, new light fittings, custom millwork and windows and a barn-door entrance. The tasting room is used for visitors, tours and private functions.

Modern office space

In the Main Building (31 Germania St.), Vantage refurbished the mezzanine area to add offices and a conference room with IdeaPaint (a whiteboard paint that transforms walls into a dry-erase writing surface that is ideal for idea sharing and brainstorming). The redevelopment comprised building systems work at both locations, including HVAC, plumbing, ductwork and fire alarm/fire sprinkler systems.

“We were pleased to work again with Boston Beer Co., one of the region’s most admired and well-known companies,” said John Connor, principal of Vantage Builders, in prepared remarks. “Their team has a tremendous passion for what they do, which is how we approach all of our assignments. Key to the success of this project was the open communication and coordination among all members of the project team.”

The project team included Studio TROIKA architects, and Bala Consulting Engineers and FMC for project management. Vantage Builders also worked on a medical marijuana facility that opened this year near Boston.
