The University of California San Diego recently announced that the apartments at Revelle and John Muir College, two of UC San Diego’s six undergraduate colleges, have been completed.

The Charles David Keeling Apartments at Revelle house 510 beds and have energy-efficient features such as solar panels, heat control through shading and naturally assisted exhausts. The project is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification, which will be a first for any structure on campus.

The new apartments at Muir College consist of two towers with a total of 275 beds.

Transfer students will also benefit from new housing in the Village neighborhood, a 13-building project that started five years ago. Two of the buildings are 15-story high-rises. The first phase, the Village at Torrey Pines West, features 1,000 beds and opened in 2010; the second phase of the housing complex, featuring 805 beds, will open its doors this fall and is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.

In other news, SR Commercial has attained four new SoCal management contracts, totaling over 185,500 square feet of space. SR Commercial has over 3 million square feet of real estate investments and management. The company focuses on Class A retail, office and industrial properties with a sale value from $2 million to $12million.

The four contracts added to its management portfolio include:

  • Three office buildings totaling approximately 75,000 square feet at the former Thomas Jefferson Law School Campus  at 2120,2121 and 2145 San Diego Avenue;
  • A 43,836-square-foot freestanding industrial building located at 14700 South Radburn Avenue in Santa Fe Springs; and

SR Commercial assumed all commercial business previously handled by ARK Management, also owned by Robingson and CJ Stos. The portfolio includes more than 2.8 million square feet of commercial property.
