TravelPro has signed a 295,800-square-foot lease at an industrial building in McDonough, Ga., with landlord Medline Industries.

Located at 1500 Medline Place in metro Atlanta, the building features 37-foot ceilings, 77 dock doors, LED lighting and close access to 13 UPS and FedEx centers. It was originally constructed in 2016.

“This lease brings the building to 100 percent occupancy in 10 months leasing time,” Lisa Pittman, Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office director and leader of the logistics & industrial services group, told Commercial Property Executive. “Medline outfitted the space with lights, dock equipment and some spec office. The building showed very well.”

Cushman & Wakefield facilitated the deal on behalf of the landlord with its team of Ray Stache, Lisa Pittman and Greg Dickerson.

Strong Market

The city of McDonough is quickly becoming one of Atlanta’s hottest industrial submarkets, with several major leases occurring there in 2017. Its convenient access to the Port of Savannah via Interstate 75 and the Florida market makes it that much more attractive to businesses.

“McDonough is a magnet for large industrial users,” Pittman said. “Its proximity to the port, Florida’s population as well as Metro Atlanta give it a logistic and transportation advantage.”

The metro-Atlanta industrial market is increasing, with many companies expanding in the state. Atlanta’s favorable tax structure and business relocation costs attract jobs in fields such as health care, media, technology, tourism and film.
