Toronto’s Omni King Edward Hotel Gets New Owner

Omni Hotels & Resorts has fully acquired the 301-key Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, after managing and operating the asset since August 2013. The company will now take on all ownership, operations and management responsibilities for the hotel.

Constructed in 1903 at 37 King St. E., in the heart of the city’s financial district, the hotel offers easy access to the TTC Subway and light rail, the Sony Centre and the CN Tower. Omni Hotels & Resorts recently completed a $40 million renovation project that included the addition of a new fitness center and the upgrade of the hotel’s guestrooms, bathrooms, and meeting spaces.

The Omni King Edward was designed by Chicago architect Henry Ives Cobb and Canadian architect E.J. Lennox, and was the first of its kind in the city. During its heyday, the hotel hosted celebrities such as Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles.
