Ireland’s government has agreed to a long-term lease for the entire 17th floor of the MetLife Building in Midtown Manhattan.

The 43,108-square-foot space in the Tishman Speyer-owned skyscraper, also known as 200 Park Ave. and, once, the Pan Am Building, will house the Consulate General of Ireland, as well as the rest of Ireland House, the Irish government’s representative office in the city.

In addition to the consulate, the new space will be home to the country’s trade, tourism and investment agencies, as well as the Irish Food Board, the Ireland Funds and CIE Tours.

The Irish government plans to depart its offices at 345 Park Ave., between 51st and 52nd Street, for the MetLife Building in 2024. The new headquarters will sit above Grand Central Terminal, between 42nd and 45th Street, continuing the Irish Consulate’s long association with the Midtown East neighborhood. The consulate was first established in 1930 and located in the Graybar Building on Lexington Ave., near Grand Central.

Among the other prominent tenants at the storied MetLife Building is CBRE, whose 18th floor offices will neighbor the consulate from above. The firm expanded its office space at the address by 44,612 square-feet in 2020, bringing its total square footage at the tower to 215,000.

In addition to the New York consulate and the Embassy of Ireland in Washington, the republic has consulates in Atlanta, as well as Austin, Texas, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.

A Savills team which included tri-state New York President David Goldstein, Vice Chairman Jim Wenk, Associate Director Sam Mann, and Assistant Director Allison Buck represented the Irish consulate in the deal.

Tishman Speyer was advised by an in-house team comprising Senior Managing Director Gus Field, Managing Director Megan Sheehan and Director Sam Brodsky.
