The Opus Group to Complete 45,000-Sq. Ft. Industrial Expansion for King Shan in West Dundee, Ill.
The Opus Group recently announced it has received a contract to complete a major industrial expansion for Taiwan-based King Shan, L.L.C. in the West Dundee village of Kane County, IL.

The Opus Group recently announced it has received a contract to complete a major industrial expansion for Taiwan-based King Shan LLC in the West Dundee village of Kane County, Ill. The new 45,000-square-foot facility will be built right next to King Shan’s existing 35,000-square-foot facility in Oakview Corporate Park. Minneapolis-based Opus constructed the existing industrial facility in 2010.
“It’s a pleasure to work with King Shan again,” says Jim Caesar, regional vice president of Opus Design Build LLC. “We’re looking forward to supporting its efforts to expand their space and business.”
King Shan, a manufacturer of steel wire and metal fabrication products, wants to expand its production and distribution operations by adding more space to its only U.S. facility.
According to a news release, King Shan’s new building will comprise 41,000 square feet of warehouse space, 4,000 square feet of office space, and will feature 24-foot clear height ceilings. The two industrial buildings will be connected by an on grade drive and overhead doors.
Construction on the new building is set to begin this fall, with completion slated for January 2015. Opus Design Build LLC is the project’s design-builder, while Opus AE Group LLC is the architect and engineer of record.
“Our team is honored to have the opportunity to build on our past success with King Shan as the company looks to meet the needs of its U.S.-based customers,” Caesar says.
Noel Liston of Darwin Realty and Development represented both parties in the transaction. The cost of the project has not yet been disclosed.
According to sources close to the developer, King Shan chose Illinois for its U.S. location in order to be close to their core business source, Chicago-based manufacturer Weber Grills. Additionally, King Shan chose the Oakview Corporate Park in West Dundee because of its one-of-a-kind landscape amenities, featuring views overlooking forest preserves, wetlands and a golf course.
