Tanjong Pagar Centre to Become Singapore’s Tallest Building in 2016

GuocoLand has unveiled its plans to build the tallest structure in Singapore. At approximately 951 feet, the proposed Tanjong Pagar Centre will also rise as the company’s first integrated mixed-use development in the city and region.

Located in the heart of the commercial business district, above Tanjong Pagar MRT station, the project will feature Grade A office, retail and event space, an international hotel, as well as high-end apartments with stunning views of the sea and city skyline.

The development’s office component will include 850,000 square feet within the 38-story Guoco Tower, whereas the residences known collectively as TP180 will rise even higher, starting at about 600 feet (180 meters, equivalent to 50 residential stories). Plans also call for six levels of retail space, a luxury business hotel linked to the main tower and a City Room integrated with the Tanjong Pagar City Park. At full build-out in 2016, the entire project will offer a total of 1.7 million square feet of space.

“Tanjong Pagar Centre is GuocoLand’s first integrated mixed-use project in Singapore. Its fusion of premier office, retail, residential and hospitality spaces raises the bar for what is available in this part of the CBD. The richness of the historical district, park and landscape spaces will differentiate it from other commercial developments,” said Trina Loh, GuocoLand’s managing director.

Tanjong Pagar Centre is designed by architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The company’s previous iconic projects include the Burj Khalifa high-rise in Dubai, the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, and One World Trade Center in New York City.

GuocoLand’s new development is also slated to become a benchmark for environmental sustainability in Singapore. For its eco-friendly features, the Tanjong Pagar Centre project has already achieved the LEED (CS) Platinum Precertification.  Additionally, Guoco Tower, along with the hotel and retail components, have been conferred the Singapore BCA (Building and Construction Authority) Green Mark (Platinum) award, while TP180 will hold a Green Mark (Gold Plus) award.

Recognized as a developer of eco-friendly structures, GuocoLand has also won the BCA Green Mark Awards for projects such as Goodwood Residence, Sophia Residence, Leedon Residence, The Waterline, Elliot at the East Coast and The Quartz.
