Summit Design + Build Completes Chicago Hotel Renovation

The asset is the former Hotel Indigo Chicago Downtown, which received a rebranding under the name of Claridge House Hotel. Interwest Capital purchased the property in 2016.

Summit Design + Build has completed renovations at the former Hotel Indigo Chicago Downtown, a 13-story, 165-key property located in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Improvements totaled 59,000 square feet and included a rebranding under the original name of Claridge House Hotel. Hirsch Associates worked as the project architect while The Gettys Group provided interior design services. The property operates under Oxford Capital Group management.

The development is nearly a century old, having been completed in 1923 at 1244 N. Dearborn Parkway. Its current owner, Interwest Capital, purchased it in 2016 and set forth with plans to change it into a contemporary, modern hotel by upgrading the rooms, lobby, spa, restaurant and amenity areas.

Interior upgrades include new paint, wallpaper, carpet and custom light fixtures inside suites and on the corridors. Guestrooms now also feature luxury vinyl tile flooring, brass-like fixtures, new shower fixtures and glass doors, as well as lighted mirrors. The lobby received a new custom tile inlay with the hotel’s new name and logo, a new bar, Venetian plaster ceilings, a lounge with a new electric fireplace and a custom reception desk with management office.

The hotel renovations were completed a few months after Summit Design + Build broke ground on a two-story, 15,000-square-foot mixed-use project in Chicago’s Clybourn corridor.
