STIHL Expands Virginia Beach Corporate HQ
The new 80,000-square-foot addition to STIHL's corporate headquarters and manufacturing campus will include office space, a museum and a customer welcome center.

The German power equipment manufacturer STIHL Inc. has broken ground on its new administrative building in Virginia Beach, Va. The company’s U.S. corporate headquarters and manufacturing campus will benefit from a $25 million investment.
The company initially opened its doors in 1974 at its Virginia Beach headquarters, with a 20,000-square-foot rented warehouse. The current site measures more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and office space. The former administrative building was razed to make room for the new 80,000-square-foot office, which will include a museum and customer welcome center. Other improvements include an outdoor demonstration area for training, guard house and overall security upgrades.
Positive impact for the region
A groundbreaking ceremony was held, attended by local officials, including the mayor of Virginia Beach. Hourigan Construction is the general contractor and HBA Architecture Interior Design is the lead architect. The STIHL campus expansion is slated for a mid-2019 completion.
“This groundbreaking is a sign of our confidence in a continued positive economic environment for modern manufacturing in the City of Virginia Beach and signals our ongoing investment not only to the region but our network of more than 9,000 servicing dealers and their customers,” said Bjoern Fischer, president of STIHL Inc., in a prepared statement.
