New York—Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor, a 132-key hotel that is the Aloft brand’s first entry into the Syracuse, N.Y., market.
“We are delighted to introduce our popular Aloft brand to Syracuse as part of the city’s waterfront revitalization project,” Brian McGuinness, Starwood senior vice president of specialty select brands, said in a prepared release. “Boasting a portfolio of more than 100 hotels in dynamic destinations around the globe, Aloft resonates with today’s hyper-connected global traveler with its distinctive style, innovative programming and buzzing social scene.”
Also in the area, Element Syracuse Inner Harbor will be opening in the spring of 2018. Both hotels are owned by affiliates of COR Development Co., and managed by Real Hospitality Group LLC.
The hotels are a key component of COR Development’s $350 million redevelopment of the Inner Harbor, a project that is transforming a 30-acre waterfront property into a world-class tourism destination. The development will also include educational facilities and several mixed-use complexes with office, retail and residential components.
Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor features 132 spacious, loft-like rooms, accessible technologies and live music at the W XYZ Bar. It features SPG Keyless—Starwood’s industry-first keyless entry system that enables guests to use their smartphone or Apple watch as a room key—and fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
The hotel also contains 690 square feet of meeting space, a Splash pool, a Re:chargeSM fitness center and Re:fuelSM by Aloft—a one-stop gourmet grab & go food and beverage area.
Located a little more than a mile from downtown Syracuse, the hotel is within close proximity of Destiny USA, a major shopping and entertainment destination with more than 1.3 million square feet of outlets, restaurants and retail stores. Guests will also enjoy easy access to NBT Bank Stadium, Armory Square, Syracuse University, SUNY Upstate Medical University and several leading hospitals.
“We are thrilled to bring Starwood’s popular Aloft brand to Inner Harbor and expect the new hotel will be a hit with travelers seeking a high-caliber brand in a prime location along the city’s revitalized waterfront, near dining, shopping and entertainment,” Ben Seidel, Real Hospitality Group president & CEO, said in the release. “Aloft Syracuse Inner Harbor will appeal to visitors to Syracuse, as well as to area professionals, with its emphasis on style, accessible technologies and live music performances by emerging artists at W XYZ Bar.”
