A Michigan-based developer is building more housing for seniors in Northern Virginia. On Aug. 4, Singh Development announced the start of construction for the Waltonwood Ashburn.

The new senior living community is Singh’s first in Northern Virginia. Waltonwood Ashburn is located at 44141 Russell Branch Pwy., at the southeast corner of Ashburn Village Boulevard and Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn. It will be a 287,000-square-foot community with 213 units, including 114 independent living apartments, 72 assisted living units and 27 memory care units.

Singh is building the new Ashburn community on a 14.9-acre site with preserved woodlands and wetlands which add to the ambiance of the living environment. Waltonwood Ashburn will offer its residents numerous amenities, including restaurant-style dining, a café, a game room, a pool, a fitness center and a dog park. The Harris Teeter-anchored Ashbrook Commons Shopping Center is located across the street, with the Inova Loudoun Hospital just minutes away.

The Michigan developer did not reveal the cost of the project or a timeline for construction. It did, however, announce that Waltonwood Ashburn will employ at least 150 associates.

The Ashburn project might be Singh’s first in Northern Virginia, but it definitely won’t be its last. The developer said it plans to build a second Waltonwood senior living community in the South Riding area of southern Loudoun County. Work on this second project is expected to start next year.
