Mohr Partners Taps Bob Shibuya as President

Mohr Partners Inc. has gotten its first new president in more than a decade with the selection of Robert Shibuya to take on the job. The 31-year veteran is charged with overseeing Mohr Partners’ service business around the world, with responsibilities that include providing transaction advisory, portfolio/lease administration, project management and corporate finance/disposition services to corporate and government sector clients. Shibuya recently spearheaded global activity as UGL Services’ group president. That position followed service as COO for the Americas at DTZ and global head of corporate advisory services and capital markets for Trammell Crow Co.

Avison Young Buys Montreal-Based Firm Roy et Tremblay

Toronto-based commercial real estate services firm Avison Young continues its expansion, this time closer to home in Canada, with the acquisition of Montreal-based project management firm Roy et Tremblay Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed. Avison Young is a privately owned company that has grown from 11 to 58 offices and from 300 to more than 1,500 real estate professionals across Canada, the United States and Europe in the past five years. The newest acquisition expands its business-line coverage in Montreal and the province of Quebec overall.

Madison International Names Chen Head of Equity Capital Markets

Real estate private equity firm Madison International Realty has named Michael Chen as managing director. He will oversee the company’s global equity capital markets activities. Chen joins Madison from Paramount Group Inc., an office owner/operator where he was vice president & co-head of capital markets. Previously, he served as executive director for the real estate and lodging investment banking group of J.P. Morgan in New York and London.

Inland Lodging Welcomes Welch as CFO

Inland American Lodging Group Inc. has added Andrew Welch to its executive team. He joins the company as executive vice president & CFO, and brings 30 years of experience in the financial, capital markets and real estate sectors to the position. From 1998 through 2013, Welch was with FelCor Lodging Trust, holding the positions of executive vice president & CFO from 2006 on out. Prior to joining FelCor, Welch served as vice president & treasurer of Bristol Hotel Co. from 1997 to 1998.

HFF Opens Charlotte Office

HFF has opened its 23rd U.S. office in Charlotte, N.C. The strategic location will focus on expanding HFF’s commercial real estate capital markets services throughout the Carolinas. Senior managing director Ryan Clutter will lead the new office. Clutter, a former executive vice president with CBRE Group Inc., has been based in Charlotte for his entire career, with the exception of the past two years, which he spent in Washington, D.C. He was a market leader for CBRE in the Mid-Atlantic States, and sold more than $4 billion worth of office and industrial assets during his tenure with the firm.

Gilbert Joins JLL as Managing Director in Orlando

Central Florida’s commercial real estate market continues to strengthen, and JLL has brought veteran office broker John Gilbert on board to ink some deals. He joins the firm as managing director, and will focus on growing the firm’s regional office agency leasing practice. Gilbert previously spent 14 years with CBRE Group Inc., holding the title of senior vice president. With more than 20 years working in Orlando’s commercial real estate market, Gilbert has completed more than 650 sale and lease transactions totaling more than $590 million in value.

Greystone Acquires ARA Seniors Group

Greystone has launched a seniors housing real estate sales and investment advisory group through its acquisition of the ARA National Seniors Housing Group from ARA National Seniors Housing Group Ltd. The purchase was specific to the seniors housing group, as none of the other ARA offices or groups were included in the transaction. The new entity, Greystone Real Estate Advisors Inc., will be led by Mike Garbers and Cody Tremper, two veterans that bring more than 20 years of combined experience in the seniors housing industry. The duo will work with Scott Kavel and Cary Tremper, managing directors who lead Greystone’s seniors housing finance group.

Related Beal Names Sherman Stamler COO

Boston’s Related Beal has named Kimberly Sherman Stamler the company’s new COO. As such, Sherman Stamler is tasked with leading the overall management of the firm and overseeing deal execution, new business and financing activities across all Boston platforms. She is no stranger when it comes to the Related family. Prior to joining Related Beal, Sherman Stamler served as a senior vice president at Related Cos. in New York, a post that had her managing developments in New York and Boston. She has been with Related Cos. since 1999.
