Absolute Storage Management, a Memphis-based national self-storage company, has taken yet another step down the eco-friendly road. The Memphis Business Journal reports that the company has installed solar panels on one of its Memphis facilities. The 1485 Madison Ave. storage facility, named Midtown Vault Storage, now boasts 117 solar panels with a capacity of 28 kilowatts.

The solar installation covers around a third of the facility’s roof space and offsets 40 percent of energy costs, which will generate a return on investment in approximately seven years. The panels do not affect the structure’s historic façade. This marks Absolute Storage’s second solar greening endeavor, after installing solar panels on one of its Nashville locations, as previously reported on this page.

Midtown Vault offers four stories of climate-controlled self-storage units ranging from 5×3 to 12×20, as well as 10×10 drive-up units. The gated access also facility features a password protected entrance door and security cameras. RV, car and boat parking, as well and truck renting services, are also available.

In other news, Millstone Medical Outsourcing—a leading provider of customized outsourcing solutions to the medical device industry—has announced relocating its Memphis operations to a new facility in the suburb of Olive Branch, Miss.

The new state-of-the-art, 150,000-square-foot facility is more than three times larger than Millstone’s previous location. The facility does not only offer significantly increased space for the company’s various operations, but is also more technically advanced, featuring high-speed data lines and autoclaves, freezers, back-up generators and racking for storage, as well as superior security systems.

According to a press release, the new location also allows for greater flexibility and the opportunity for enhanced capacity—be it for the company’s distribution or packaging services, mechanical inspection or bone/tissue storage.
