Starwood Buys San Diego Office Portfolio for $327M
In two separate transactions, an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group Global has acquired 13 office properties totaling nearly 1.1 million square feet throughout the Sorrento Mesa and Rancho Bernardo submarkets of San Diego from Kilroy Realty Corp. for $327 million.
Walnut Capital to Begin Construction on New Office Building at Bakery Square 2.0 This Spring
Walnut Capital Partners is planning to break ground on the first office building of its approximately $100 million Bakery Square 2.0 mixed-use development in East Liberty this spring. According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, construction on the six-story, 216,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin in March and be complete in 18 to 24 months. The Pittsburgh Planning Commission is currently reviewing the developer’s proposal.
John Hancock Acquires Iconic 200 South Wacker Tower
After KBS REIT III acquired the 1.5 million-square-foot tower located at 500 West Madison Street in downtown Chicago earlier this month, another skyscraper has changed owners in Chicago. The 40-story 200 South Wacker has been acquired by John Hancock for $214.5 million.
C&W Wins Leasing of Uptown Trophy Tower; SoCal Investor Grabs 622-Unit Dallas Portfolio
Miami-based Parmenter Realty Partners has selected Cushman & Wakefield of Texas, Inc. (C&W) to provide leasing services for The Tower At Cityplace, a recently acquired 1.3 million-square foot, Class A, office building located in Dallas’ Uptown.

The Blackstone Group’s Equity Office Properties affiliate has closed the sale, for $237 million, of Wellesley Office Park, a 649,184-square-foot office park in Wellesley, Mass.
Heitman Buys 866 KSF Regional Power Center in Bay Area
In what could be the largest retail property sale in the Bay Area in 2013 in terms of size, Heitman acquired Pacific Commons Shopping Center, an 80-acre outdoor mall in Fremont, Calif., from an affiliate of Catellus Development Corp., a TPG Real Estate investment.
