Savills Studley Completes Leasing Transaction for Nutanix

Durham, N.C.—Savills Studley, a commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation, recently completed a lease transaction for data center infrastructure solutions provider Nutanix Inc. The company will occupy 70,000 square feet of the 286,000-square-foot Chesterfield building, a redevelopment project by Wexford Science & Technology in Durham.

Located at 701 West Main St., Chesterfield is a seven-story office space slated to open in the first quarter of 2017. Duke University and BioLab NC are amongst the building’s anchor tenants. According to the Triangle Business Journal, Duke University has committed to leasing 100,000 square feet at Chesterfield, while BioLab NC will occupy 42,000 square feet. Formerly known as the headquarters of Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co., the building will feature about 11,000 square feet of street-level retail and restaurant space after its $128 million redevelopment.

“Nutanix’s decision to expand their operations to the Chesterfield building reflects the innovative culture at Nutanix and how the unique elements of this adaptive reuse building promote their workplace environment,” said Marlene Spritzer, corporate managing director at Savills Studley’s Durham office, in prepared remarks.

Experiencing unprecedented growth in operations in Durham, Nutanix outgrew its current space in the Measurement building at 404 Hunt St. A second location for additional operations has been leased on a short-term basis in the Croasdaile area of Durham, to complement the Hunt Street location. These expansions will allow the company to grow while awaiting build-out and occupancy of its new space in the Chesterfield building next summer.
