Santé Operations to Build Its First, Acute Care, Facility in Tucson

Santé Operations recently announced its plans to construct a transitional rehabilitation center in Tucson.

The state-of-the-art post-hospitalization acute care facility will be Santé’s first location in the city. The developer wants to break ground this June with opening scheduled for April 2016.

Located on Wilmot Road near Grant, just south of Costco, the facility will be in close proximity to Tucson Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and surrounding medical districts. The center will foreseeably serve the University of Arizona Medical Center and Northwest Medical Center as well.

Based in Phoenix, the Santé network consists of hospitality-focused post-hospitalization-care properties that offer complete transitional rehabilitation services such as short-term and acute physical rehabilitation, occupational and speech therapy, skilled nursing, home health care and in-home hospice assistance. Since its inception in 2008, the company has set up five locations in Mesa, Chandler, Surprise, Central- and North Scottsdale and obtained a five-star Medicare rating.

The new two-story, 68,000-square-foot building in Tucson will have 87 patient units and 89 beds, with the potential to accommodate an additional 14 beds. Additionally, the facility will include a short-term memory care wing exclusively for patients with dementia. The latter unit will be privately secured and will incorporate a self-contained dining and physical rehabilitation gym.

According to Santé CEO Mark Hansen, the opening of the center will bring 150 new jobs to the area. Based on information from the Arizona Daily Star, the project will cost $24 million.
