SLNusbaumS.L. Nusbaum Realty Co., one of the largest real estate management, brokerage and development companies in the southeastern United States, has recently expanded its Greater Washington property management portfolio with the addition of 14 properties, all located throughout Arlington.

The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing, a nonprofit that develops and owns rental housing affordable to low- and moderate-income families, owns the properties, which together house more than 1,200 families. After an extensive search process, the nonprofit hired S.L. Nusbaum as the new property management partner.

“This partnership is such as perfect fit,” Stephen Boyce, S.L. Nusbaum’s senior vice president and co-director of operations for Multi-Family Housing, said in a statement. “Our two organizations share a passion to provide quality housing for all people, regardless of household income. APAH develops and acquires great properties and has an outstanding resident services group. S. L. Nusbaum Realty Co. manages with high standards and we care deeply about the services we provide. Both APAH and SLN realize that what we do has an impact on people. That matters to both our organizations and is one of the main reasons we expect this to be a long term relationship.”

Norfolk-based S.L. Nusbaum was founded in 1906. It currently manages a wide range of apartment communities in Virginia and the Carolinas, from affordable apartments to high-end market rate units. During its long history, the company has developed 30 apartment communities, 56 shopping centers, 16 Walgreens stores and numerous other projects. The company’s property management portfolio includes 120 apartment communities with almost 17,000 units, as well as 5 million square feet of retail space and dozens of commercial buildings.
