Zayo Group Holdings Inc. will expand its Atlanta footprint with a new facility. The communications infrastructure provider has been steadily increasing its Atlanta network over the past two years, adding over 1,000 miles of FTT (fiber-to-tower) cable. While Atlanta is a growing tech hub, Zayo also looks to other markets, like Denver—where they recently acquired a colocation facility.
Combined infrastructure
“Atlanta is a vibrant and growing market, with a diverse base of businesses contributing to strong demand. This expansion furthers our ability to serve the needs of enterprise and webscale customers with Zayo’s colocation and high-scale fiber networks,” said TJ Karklins, senior vice president of Zayo’s zColo business segment, in a prepared statement.
The new data center will be located at 1150 S.W. White St., right next to Zayo’s other facility. The company stated that due to increased demand in the Atlanta area, they will expand its infrastructure. The new location will add six megawatts of critical power on 72,100 square feet, totaling 18 megawatts on 117,100 square feet with both facilities. The property will be secured with biometric access, video surveillance and 24/7 on-site presence. The facility is expected to come online in early 2018.
