Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co., a subsidiary of Hotel Okura Co., unveiled plans to open Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park on Japan’s island of Hokkaido. NK Management will operate and manage the hotel.

Facilities were developed by Sapporo NK Kaihatsu, with investment by Misawa Homes Co. Sapporo tapped ORIX Real Estate Investment Advisors Corp. for asset and project management services for the development. Slated to open in 2019, the 13-story, 211-key hotel will offer features such as dining, saunas and hot tubs and state-of-the-art technologies.

Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park will be located a short subway ride from Sapporo Station, offering convenient access to Susukino, one of Hokkaido’s amusement districts, as well as to Sapporo’s scenic city precinct, Nakajima Park.

International Growth

“Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park will become the second member hotel following Hotel JAL City Nagoya Nishiki embodying Hotel JAL City’s renewed hotel concept,” said Marcel P. van Aelst, CEO of Okura Nikko Hotel Management, in prepared remarks. “It is always a great pleasure to welcome another member hotel, especially in a city like Sapporo, a destination much loved also by overseas travelers. We hope to establish further Hotel JAL City properties in other major Japanese metropolises to cater to growing international demand.”

Hotel JAL City Sapporo Nakajima Park will be the third hotel in Sapporo managed by Okura Nikko Hotel Management, after Hotel Okura Sapporo and JR Tower Hotel Nikko Sapporo.

Last month, Hotel Okura Co. unveiled plans to open The Okura Prestige Yangon in 2020, the first Okura Hotels & Resorts in Myanmar.
