Northrop Grumman Renews San Diego Office Lease
The defense contractor has been at the location for more than two decades.

Northrop Grumman Systems has signed a lease renewal for 168,072 square feet at 16710 and 16750 Via Del Campo Court in San Diego. The defense and aerospace company has fully occupied the two-building campus since 2005. Drawbridge Realty, the landlord, didn’t specify the exact length of the re-commitment, though a press release from the company mentions a “long-term lease.”
Drawbridge acquired the buildings in 2014 for more than $26 million, according to Yardi Matrix data. Located on 11.8 acres in the Rancho Bernardo submarket of San Diego, the Via Del Campo Court property comprises both office and R&D space. Originally developed in 1989, the campus features 479 parking spaces.

Executive Vice President Randall Wood and Managing Director Shawn Lorentzen of JLL represented Northrop Grumman in the lease negotiations. First Vice Presidents Tom Martinez and Evan Knudson, along with Senior Vice President Chris Pascale and Associate Cole Martinez of CBRE, represented Drawbridge Realty.
The deal comes not long after Drawbridge inked a 43,665-square-foot, long-term lease with Victra at Imperial Tower in Durham, N.C. Victra is the largest authorized Verizon retailer in the U.S., and will relocate its headquarters to the 264,598-square-foot office building.
Aerospace growth supports leasing
Aerospace tech is in a growth phase, which supports space absorption in markets with heavy concentrations in the sector, such as San Diego. A wave of venture capital investment and strong federal support is spurring growth in the industry.
Since 2019, venture capital firms have invested over $50 billion into aerospace technology startups, accelerating commercialization, according to a recent JLL report. The combination of private capital and government contracts means opportunities in launch, manufacturing, satellite systems, as well as emerging space services, among other tech.
