New Wellness Offering: Miraval Austin Opens
Hyatt has brought its Miraval Wellness brand to Austin, Texas, with the opening of a 117-key luxury resort spanning across 220 acres.
Miraval Austin, a spa and wellness Hyatt-branded resort, opened in Austin, Texas, on 220 acres overlooking Lake Travis at 13500 Farm to Market 2769. The facility marks Hyatt’s second wellness resort to open outside Tucson, Ariz., where its flagship property is located.
Miraval Austin offers 117 guestrooms and suites, a Life in Balance Spa, a 10-acre farm and ranch and a Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen. The guestrooms have been designed by Hart Howerton using soft neutral color palette, bespoke furniture and local accessories.
Hyatt acquired the Miraval brand in early 2017 as a strategic step in the company’s engagement with high-end travelers. Miraval operates as a standalone brand within Hyatt’s portfolio.
Life in Balance Spa
The 20,000-square-foot facility, conceptualized by Clodagh, draws inspiration from the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. It boasts 30 treatment rooms, a spa pool, relaxation rooms, salon, sauna, steam room and spa retail boutique. A collaboration with organic skincare company Laurel is enhancing the spa experience by creating a petal pecan mask inspired by the on-property farm. In addition, the two parties have created an exclusive spa treatment, dubbed the Spiritual Warrior Facial, which uses plants and gemstones for facial treatments.
Guests at the property can chose from various activities including fitness, yoga, meditation, culinary, nutrition and art. Miraval’s 5,600-square-foot Body Mindfulness Center features Technogym equipment and a fitness studio for activities including cardio drumming, bosu blast and spinning classes. Those interested in stepping out of their comfort zones can try slacklining, archery and hatchet throwing.
Culinary offerings, retail & the ranch
Miraval Austin proposed a culinary program, hosting healthy cooking classes and workshops. The resort has its own 10-acre Cypress Creek Organic Farm that produces ingredients for the kitchen and spa.
The Preserve Provision Co., Miraval Austin’s retail outlet, sells art, jewelry, clothing and skincare products sourced from local artisans and craftsmen.
More than 20 years ago at Miraval Arizona, the brand’s famous equine programming will also be a part of the Miraval Austin offering—The Cypress Creek Ranch offers a curriculum that expands upon the original programming with new workshops.
“We are incredibly proud to open Miraval Austin as we embark on an exciting period of expansion at Miraval,” said Marc Ellin, global head of Miraval Group. “For over 20 years, Miraval has been dedicated to inspiring total mind, body and spirit wellness by offering guests authentic experiences rooted in mindfulness. As we open Miraval Austin, we look forward to welcoming Miraval’s loyal guests, as well new audiences to experience the fulfillment, pleasure and growth that come with a Miraval experience.”
