Jewell, an Oldcastle Co. subsidiary, announced the opening of a new 23,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Burnet, Texas. The new plant will serve Central Texas, including the Austin and San Antonio markets, and is expected to be operational by the end of the month.

The manufacturing facility is situated on a 15-acre lot and has an on-site quarry providing raw materials. It will be dedicated to Oldcastle’s concrete and mortar brands, which include Sakrete, Techniseal and Amerimix, serving the DIY, commercial masonry and professional contractor markets.

“Jewell is pleased and excited to bring employment opportunities to the Burnet community with the addition of this new manufacturing business,” Dan Hamblen, Jewell’s president, said in prepared remarks. “This addition to our existing production facilities will serve a critical role in supplying high growth markets in the residential and commercial sectors throughout our region.”

The Texas industrial market has been drawing a lot of interest lately, including from giant companies such as Apple.
