Illinois-based Moore’s Food Resources recently announced its intention to locate new operations facilities in Greenville County. Established in 1997, Moore’s Food Resources is projected to bring $15 million of new capital investment in a 131,200-square-foot facility and create 182 new jobs in Piedmont, S.C. The company produces nutritious, farm-to-table foods and dessert baked goods under the Sheila Moore’s Gourmet Recipes brand name.
The new baking plant will be located along the I-85 corridor between Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., at the intersection of Matrix Parkway and Old Grove Road in Piedmont, S.C. According to Greenville Online, the facility will be part of the county’s largest industrial park, Augusta Grove, formerly known as The Matrix. The bakery will initially produce six goods—four muffin loaves and two waffles. As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project.
“Moore’s Food Resources adds to the already-diverse landscape of specialty food products made right here in South Carolina, and the addition of this business brings important opportunities for our farmers,” said South Carolina Agriculture Commissioner Hugh Weathers, in a prepared statement.
By 2020, Moore plans to add another 50,000 square feet onto the plant, making way for two more production lines. Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin during the third quarter of 2017 and the bakery is slated for completion by March 2018.
