Miami City Self Storage LLC is expanding its footprint in Broward County, Fla. with the construction of a three-story facility in Pembroke Pines.
If approved by the city’s Planning and Zoning Board, the 100,000-square-foot project will rise on a 2.85-acre site at 18460 Pines Blvd. The city-owned property is located behind a mixed-use retail and office building on the east side, where an Aldi and a Walgreens are under development. The parcel will be sold to the Miami-based developer once the zoning application is approved.
Led by Jay Massirman, Stephen Garchik and Steve McBride, Miami City Self Storage launched in mid-2014 in Miami-Dade County and is now expanding in Broward County.
In September, the company bought two assets in Fort Lauderdale for $3.2 million, according to Inside Self-Storage. These acquisitions followed the purchase of six properties in Miami-Dade County in May this year.
The South Florida area has experienced a boom in self-storage facility construction, which is meant to serve the growing population, especially now that more people are living in smaller units.
