Santiago, Cape Verde—Meliá Hotels International has announced plans for three more hotels in the Cape Verde area, set to open between 2019 and 2020 once construction is complete. Comprising four and five-star all-inclusive hotels with a total of 600 guestrooms, these three additions will contain the Meliá Lusofonia Resort & Spa, Meliá Lusofonia and Meliá Lusofonia Residences, with 320, 150 and 130 guestrooms, respectively.
The hotel will be located in Ponta Jandangue on the island of Santiago, the largest in Cape Verde, and will occupy an area between Praia, the capital of the archipelago and Cidade Velha, located on the south coast of the island.
The resort will offer amenities such as bars, specialty restaurants, beach clubs, swimming pools, and a spa. Meliá Hotels currently has two resorts on Sal Island, the Meliá Tortuga Beach and Meliá Dunas Beach Resort & Spa. At the end of this year the Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa is scheduled to open, and in the coming years will be the Meliá White Sands and Meliá Salamansa. That will take the number of properties operated by Meliá Hotels International to eight, with a total of nearly 4,000 guestrooms.
