Marriott Debuts in Sri Lanka

Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa

Marriott Hotels & Resorts has opened Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, a 198-key hotel, marking Marriott International’s first property in Sri Lanka.

Located at 700 Matara Road, Pelana, to the south of the country in Weligama, the development is in close proximity to the Galle Fort and Blue Whale watching hubs. Additionally, Bandaranaike International Airport and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport-HRI are situated nearby. Other nearby activities include bike rentals, boating, horseback riding, jet-skiing, water-skiing and more.

Luxury amenities

The 14-story hotel features 188 keys and 10 suites, as well as four meeting rooms and a total of 5,274 square feet of meeting space. Common area amenities include:

Additionally, Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa offers a garden with outdoor furniture, a minibar, bathtubs and ironing facilities. All rooms come with a private bathroom, which includes a bathtub, bathrobes, slippers and free toiletries. Currently, the company has plans to open 10 W Hotel properties in Europe. Marriott recently revealed plans for the W Rome, a 159-key hotel in Rome, Italy.
