Mar Vista Welcomes New Boys & Girls Club Facility
The facility will help the community by serving more than 600 children.
Los Angeles—The Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club, together with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) recently announced the completion of the Mar Vista Gardens Boys & Girls Center, located within the Jack and Cindy Jones Youth Center.
The facility, which is located at 4901 Marionwood Drive in Culver City, Calif., will help the community by serving more than 600 children. Designed by Killefer Flammang Architects, the 7,265-square-foot building has undergone a $1.7 million renovation, which now includes a teen center, technology and education center, and a music studio. The Mar Vista Gardens Center’s operations were made possible by the voter-approved Proposition K funding, which is administrated by the City of Los Angeles.
“The kids that go through the programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs find the help and encouragement they need to go on to be successful in their academic and professional lives,” said KFA Partner & Co-Founder Wade Killefer in a prepared statement.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica serves approximately 8,000 children throughout the entire Los Angeles County.
