Lowe’s Home Improvement has opened a single-story, 130,000-square-foot store at Thompson Thrift’s South Bridge Marketplace, a retail development in Maricopa, Ariz.

South Bridge Marketplace rises on 20 acres at 44400 W. Honeycutt Ave., at the intersection between John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue. The area is transited daily by approximately 70,000 vehicles.

Thompson Thrift purchased the site in January 2024 and broke ground on the Lowe’s store in November. The company will soon begin construction on a second 54,000-square-foot component, which will be anchored by ALDI.

Retailers Einstein Bros. Bagels, Club Pilates, Eurowax and She Nails are also on the property’s roster, together occupying 30 percent of the space. Thompson Thrift is currently negotiating leases for the remaining available space.

The development is 36 miles south of downtown Phoenix. Major thoroughfares in the area include Interstate 10, as well as Arizona State routes 347 and 238. Along these routes, there are other retail centers, featuring retailers such as Sprouts Farmers Market, Fry’s Marketplace, CVS and McDonald’s.

Last quarter, Thompson Thrift broke ground on a $225 million mixed-use development in Phoenix’s Gilbert suburb. The 35-acre Gilmore will comprise approximately 200,000 square feet of grocery, retail and restaurant space, a hotel and 300 luxury apartment homes. Residents are expected to move in at the future development in 2027, while retailers are scheduled to open in the second half of 2026.
