Lindsay Honda, the new auto mall located at 5959 Scarborough Blvd., in Columbus, Ohio, has been awarded LEED Silver certification. Aside from the USGBC certification, Lindsay Honda has earned the Platinum Honda Environmental Leadership Award for reducing its environmental impact.

The 156,000-square-foot site has been upgraded to the LEED Silver level using sustainable site opportunities—the reuse, salvage and recycling of materials, along with lighting power reduction and added controls for efficient management. Honda also developed and tested an energy reduction program tuned specifically for dealerships to help the dealership achieve reductions in energy use, including a path to achieving zero net energy use, while lowering operating costs.

“(We are) proud to be one of the few LEED certified and Platinum Honda Environmental dealers in the United States,” Vice President Steve Lindsay said in a prepared statement.

Honda has also released a “Green Dealer” Guide, which serves as a roadmap for Honda and Acura dealerships across the U.S. to reduce their energy and water consumption. The company says it can be used by any business owner interested in lowering their energy costs and reducing their environmental impact.
