Shintech To Invest $1.4B In Baton Rouge-Area Expansion
Shintech Inc., the North American subsidiary of Japan-based Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., one of the largest PVC producers in the world, is getting ready to start on its third major expansion in Louisiana since 2008. According to Gov. Bobby Jindal, the company will invest $1.4 billion to supply its Iberville Parish facilities with new ethylene production capacity.
Tucson Electric Power Seeking Contractor for Energy Storage Facility
Tucson Electric Power issued a request for proposals in which it seeks a developer to design and construct a utility-scale energy storage system. The RFP was issued on Friday, April 24 and stipulates that the 10 megawatt facility should be operational by the end of 2016. The future project partner would build and own the asset under a 10-year agreement – TEP provides the site for the project.
College of Osteopathic Medicine at NMSU Breaks Ground in Las Cruces
Las Cruces recently hosted an event that brought together Governor Susana Martinez, three mayors, the executive chairman, and the presidents of the American Osteopathic Association and New Mexico State University. The attendees celebrated the groundbreaking of the new osteopathic college at NMSU, calling it “pouring the foundation for the future”.
